Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American television journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based in Washington D.C. After growing up in New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career as a radio and TV reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976, Mitchell became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). In the following two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. In 1981 she started reporting from the White House. In 1988 she became the chief congressional reporter. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell participated on the TV program Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. Mitchell participated on a panel during the debate in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. She has covered several notable stories over time, including the tax reforms, budget reforms as well as the Iran Contra affair. She travelled extensively with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
